On October 28, Chinese ambassador to Thailand Lyu Jian attended the seminar on "the 70th anniversary of the founding of the people's Republic of China and China's development route" hosted by the Thailand-China Journalists’ Association and delivered a keynote speech. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce of Thailand, Mr. Jurin, and other 300 representatives from business sector, educational sector and media attended the meeting.

Ambassador Lyu pointed out that in a short span of 70 years, China has accomplished the modernization process that took developed countries hundreds of years to make, creating a miracle in the history of human development. The fundamental source of success is that we always adhere to and constantly strengthen the centralized and unified leadership of the Communist Party of China, and truly achieve the goal of "pooling resources to solve major problems", "following up a blueprint to the end", "diligent in learning and good at learning"; the fundamental source of success is our persistence in keeping pace with the times and attaching importance to theoretical innovation, especially President Xi Jinping’s new development concept of innovation, coordination, green, openness and sharing, from where we draw inspiration for tackling challenges.

Ambassador Lyu stressed that faced with the unprecedented changes of the world, downward pressure on global economic growth, protectionism, unilateralism and anti-globalization, China always believes that globalization and multilateralism are irreversible trends of the times, and complementary advantages and win-win cooperation are the right way forward. Although influenced by internal and external factors, and under downward economic pressure, China's economy is highly resilient and has much potential and ample space to grow. At present, China's overall economic development is stable. In the first three quarters, the main macro indicators remain within a reasonable range. New momentum is growing, and economic fundamentals continue to improve in the long run. China is willing to work with countries in the region, including Thailand, to firmly support multilateralism and a multilateral trading system with the WTO as the core and rules as the basis, so as to promote the development of global trade and the sustainable development of the world economy.

Ambassador Lyu said that China and Thailand are comprehensive strategic cooperative partners, and both countries should fully tap into their unique advantages and further deepen practical cooperation in various fields. The first is to step up interconnection and cooperation with "belt and road" construction as the focus ; the second is to expand pragmatic cooperation with innovative industries and modern agriculture as the highlight; the third is to strengthen strategic alignment and promote regional cooperation; the fourth is to deepen the exchange of experience in poverty alleviation, environmental protection, and further promote cultural cooperation.

In his speech, Mr. Jurin warmly congratulated the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. He praised China's outstanding achievements in economic development, social governance, scientific and technological innovation, and the improvement of people's livelihood. He believed that maintaining political stability, attaching importance to people's livelihood, infrastructure construction, and mobilizing all sectors of society to participate in the construction are the “secret keys” to China's outstanding achievements in development. Mr. Jurin stressed that China is a model for the world to learn from. Thailand is willing to comprehensively deepen the exchange of experience in governance and administration with China, especially in the fields of targeted poverty alleviation, scientific and technological innovation, investment and trade, and constantly tap the potential of both sides, so that more deliverable from better cooperation projects could benefit both countries’ economy and people's livelihood as soon as possible.

Professor Aksornsri of Thammasat University Thailand, leader of Future Forward Party of Thailand, Thanathorn and other guests said that the 70-year development achievements of China showed that there is no fixed development pattern in the world, and China's development experience is an important enlightenment for Thailand. Thailand and the world should be happy to see China’s development and growth, learn from China and strengthen cooperation with China.
