Ambassador Lyu Jian attends the opening ceremony of "Chinese training course for Senators of Thailand"

On November 13, 2019, Ambassador Lyu Jian was invited to attend the opening ceremony of "Chinese training course for Senators of Thailand". The opening ceremony was presided over by Prof. Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, the President of the Senate of Thailand. The first deputy speaker of the Senate, Srinsak, the second deputy speaker of the Senate, Supachai, other Senators and representatives of relevant institutions attended the ceremony.

Ambassador Lyu warmly congratulated the opening of the new training course and said that he was glad to know that the previous students had mastered spoken Chinese for high-level exchange. They have learnt to input Chinese characters on mobile phone, sing Chinese songs, and also experienced Chinese calligraphy and Traditional Chinese medicine culture. It is believed that by learning Chinese, Senators will not only communicate more smoothly, but also improve their understanding of China at the ideological, cultural and traditional levels, which will greatly promote exchanges and cooperation between the two countries at the parliamentary level. At present, the bilateral relations has entered a new stage and is faced with new opportunities. He believed that with more Thai people, including senators, deepening their understanding about China, the bilateral relations will continue to be elevated to a new level.

Prof. Pornpetch thanked Ambassador Lyu for his concern and support for the training course. He said that the training course improved the Chinese language level of Senators and provided them with good opportunities to learn Chinese language, art and culture. He hoped that the training course would continue to play its role in promoting the further development of bilateral relations and creating new opportunities for cooperation.

The "Chinese training course for Senators of Thailand" was jointly initiated by the legislative assembly (Senate of Thailand) and Confucius Institute of Kasetsart University in 2018. It is aimed to help more Senators to understand and be familiar with Chinese language and culture , with a view of promoting high-level exchanges between the two countries.
