On November 24, Chinese ambassador to Thailand Lyu Jian was invited to attend and address the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 44th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand held by Thailand University Alumni Association of Study in China. More than 700 people attended the event, including alumni of Thailand University Alumni Association of Study in China, representatives of China Chamber of Commerce in Thailand, Tio Chew Association of Thailand, and Thai-Chinese Federation of Clans association.
In his keynote speech "let the world truly understand today's China", Ambassador Lyu summarized today's China as a developing China, an innovative China, a China that is reforming, a harmonious China and an open China, and from these five aspects, he elaborated China's economic and social development achievements, the direction of China's future development and its development philosophy. Ambassador Lyu stressed that on the basis of the development achievements of the past 70 years, China will continue to promote economic and social innovation, as well as coordinated and sustainable development. It will modernize the national governance system and capacity, so as to achieve higher quality development. China will firmly support globalization and free trade and uphold regional cooperation and multilateralism. China's development philosophy is in line with the trend of the times, and serves the common interests of China, Thailand and all other countries in the region.
Ambassador Lyu said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 44 years ago, China and Thailand have always treated each other equally in their win-win cooperation, with fruitful results achieved in bilateral pragmatic and friendly cooperation in various fields. We are confident, determined and capable of seizing the historical opportunity and speed up the connection of China’s BRI with Thailand's 4.0 and EEC, so as to create a new pattern of regional interconnection. We will work together to promote common development in the field of innovation and create a new area of pragmatic cooperation between the two sides. We will promote the vigorous development of regional cooperation and jointly create a new process of regional economic integration. We will effectively promote people to people and cultural exchanges and cooperation, create new highlights of cooperation between the two sides, improve the quality of pragmatic cooperation in various fields between China and Thailand, bringing greater benefits to the two peoples, and building up a broader development prospect. Ambassador Lyu stressed that "a strong culture means a strong country". He hoped that the Alumni Association of Study in China and overseas Chinese in Thailand would continue to support China-Thailand friendship and cultural exchanges, play their unique roles in promoting cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and Thailand, and continue to contribute to the development of China and Thailand.
Ambassador Lyu also presented awards to the winners of “ambassador's cup, me and China” essay contest.
