Ambassador Lyu Jian and Chinese Government's Joint Working Group Inspected Drowning-prone Sites in Phuket

On the morning of July 15, Ambassador Lyu Jian, who is in Phuket for the capsizing incident, inspected Karon beach and Kata beach, two drowning-prone sites, together with Mr. Chen Xiongfeng, head of the Chinese government’s joint working group and Deputy Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Consul-General Zhou Haicheng of the Chinese Consulate General in Songkhla, Consul-General Li Chunlin of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand and other staff members. The purpose of the inspection is to check the risk early warning and safety protection measures at the beaches.

Ambassador Lyu required that the Embassy and consulates general work jointly with the relevant departments of the Thai side to further strengthen safety warning and education among Chinese tourists, so as to improve their risk awareness and self-protection ability and to prevent another accident from happening.
