On August 10, Ambassador Han Zhiqiang visited upon invitation of the Assumption University of Thailand, where he attended the signing and unveiling ceremony of the AU-TUST Joint Research Institute for Modern Biological and Medical Technology of the Assumption University and the Tianjin University of Science and Technology and delivered a keynote speech themed "Developing at a Steady Pace in Complex and Severe International Circumstances".

In his keynote speech, Ambassador Han makes a comprehensive and in-depth introduction to China's economic development in the light of the latest situation. He stresses that China has achieved remarkable results in coordinating pandemic prevention and control and economic and social development. Despite various difficulties and challenges, all major economic indicators have stabilized and rebounded, and the long-term trend of progressing in stability has not changed and will not change. Ambassador Han also sternly exposes and criticizes the sinister intention and serious harm of the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi's visit to China’s Taiwan region, stressing that China's countermeasure is a just move to safeguard sovereignty and territorial integrity and is conducive to the region's resistance to hegemonism and safeguarding peace and stability.

Ambassador Han points out that the Cold War mentality and bloc confrontation are eroding Asian solidarity and undermining East Asian cooperation. Countries in the region should be highly vigilant against these dangerous trends, jointly cherish and safeguard the hard won situation of peaceful development, give full play to Asian wisdom and Asian influence in the turbulent international situation, and jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind. The students responded warmly to Ambassador Han's wonderful speech.

Ambassador Han also visited the Confucius Institute of Assumption University (CIAU), listened to the reports of the Chinese and Thail deans, fully affirmed theachievements of the CIAU, and hoped that the CIAU would make greater contributions to the language and cultural exchanges between China and Thailand.
