Ambassador Lyu Jian Attended Joint Conference of Asian Confucius Institutes along Belt and Road

On September 9, Ambassador Lyu Jian attended and addressed the joint conference of Asian Confucius Institutes along the Belt and Road in Bangkok.

The conference was organized by the Confucius Institute at Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University, Thailand. 77 Confucius Institutes from 30 Asian countries along the Belt and Road, Chinese partners of some of the Confucius Institutes, and Chinese enterprises in Thailand sent altogether around 270 representatives to the conference. Among the guests were Thai Vice Minister of Education M.L.-Panadda-Diskul, Deputy Bangkok Governor Ms. Vanveelai, representatives of different offices under the Ministry of Education of Thailand and principals of Thai partner schools of Confucius Institutes in Thailand.

Ambassador Lyu Jian, in his remarks, expressed his welcome to representatives from Asian countries along the Belt and Road for their attendance at the joint conference. He highly appreciated the attention given by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to Chinese teaching in Thailand and the development of Confucius Institutes, the support from Thai government to Confucius Institutes and Thai people's enthusiasm for Chinese learning. He said that Confucius Institutes have not only cultivated a large number of people who are familiar with Chinese language and culture for countries along the Belt and Road, but also made great contribution to advancing the Belt and Road and promoting communication between China and countries along the routes. He affirmed that the Chinese Embassy in Thailand will continue to support the development of Confucius Institutes and join people of vision from both China and Thailand in deepening mutually beneficial cooperation and friendship between the two countries.

The Conference lasted two days, and the participants had in-depth exchanges on topics including the influence of the Belt and Road on the development of Confucius Institutes, enriching and developing Confucius Institutes with their own features, and training local teachers.
