The Chinese Embassy and Overseas Chinese in Thailand Jointly Celebrate the 40th Anniversary of China's Reform and Opening Up

On December 21, the Chinese Embassy in Thailand and the overseas Chinese in Thailand jointly celebrated the 40th anniversary of China’s Reform and Opening Up. Ambassador Lyu Jian delivered the keynote speech. Nearly 200 people, including Mr. Jitti Tangsithpakdi, Chairman of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Thailand, Dr. Sangchai Sodtivarakul, Chairman of the Tio Chew Association of Thailand and other major Chinese Communities leaders, embassy staff and media representatives participated in the event.

Ambassador Lyu expressed the highlights of President Xi Jinping’s important speech at the celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening Up. Ambassador Lyu said that in his speech, President Xi Jinping profoundly summarized the great achievements and valuable experiences of the CPC and the country in the past 40 years, highly praised the outstanding contributions made by Chinese people at home and abroad to the cause of reform and opening up, and solemnly declared the confidence and the determination that the reform and opening-up will always on the way and never end. President Xi minutely planned a series of strategic plans for unswervingly and comprehensively deepening reform and expanding opening to the outside world, and clearly issued a great call for remaining true to our original aspiration, remembering our mission, and carrying out the reform and opening up to the end.

Ambassador Lyu stressed that direction determines the future and road determines destiny. President Xi Jinping's important speech is of great theoretical and practical value as well as great practical significance and far-reaching historical significance for inspiring and encouraging Chinese people at home and abroad to continue to push forward the reform and opening-up in the new era, in order to realize the Two Centenary Goals and the Chinese dream of great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Ambassador Lyu said that in the process of China's reform and opening up, overseas Chinese are witnesses, participants, beneficiaries and contributors, playing a unique and irreplaceable role in China's modernization development. At the same time, overseas Chinese have also drawn strength from the prosperity and progress of the country, and their economic strength and social status have been promoted simultaneously. Overseas Chinese in Thailand have long been concerned about, supporting and participating in China's reform and opening up process. They’ve made important contributions to China's modernization, economic and social development in Thailand and the cause of China-Thailand friendship. The Embassy in Thailand expresses its sincere appreciation to them.

Ambassador Lyu proposed that, from the new starting point of the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up, it is hoped that overseas Chinese in Thailand would continue to be a firm supporter of China's reform and opening up, a firm promoter of China-Thailand friendship, a firm promoter of China's peaceful reunification and a firm practitioner of harmonious overseas Chinese communities. The Embassy is willing to work hand in hand with all overseas Chinese in Thailand to promote their development to a new brilliance, and to work together for advancing reform and opening up and the realization of the Chinese dream of great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation!

Mr. Jitti Tangsithpakdi, Dr. Sangchai Sodtivarakul and other major overseas Chinese community leaders expressed warm congratulations on the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening up. They said that after listening to President Xi Jinping's important speech at the celebration, the overseas Chinese were very excited and proud. They also realized that the development and success of overseas Chinese benefited from the development of the motherland. Encouraged by President Xi Jinping's important speech, the overseas Chinese in Thailand will further firmly support China's reform and opening up, actively cooperate with the Embassy, seize the opportunities for development between China and Thailand, and play the role of bridge and bond, so as to contribute to further promoting China-Thailand friendly relations, promoting economic, trade and cultural exchanges between the two countries and peaceful reunification of China.

Ambassador Lyu and overseas Chinese community leaders jointly watched the photo exhibition of "Overseas Chinese and the 40th Anniversary of China's Reform and Opening up" and the documentary "We are all in this together" for the 40th Anniversary of China's Reform and Opening up. Embassy staff and overseas Chinese in Thailand also performed songs and dances together. The atmosphere was grand and warm.
