Ambassador Zhang Jianwei attended the 2026 Lancang-Mekong Week activities and the launch ceremony of Thai projects under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund

On March 25, the Chinese Embassy in Thailand and the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs jointly organized the 2026 Lancang-Mekong Week and the opening ceremony of Thai projects under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund. Ambassador Zhang Jianwei and Mr. Chetthaphan Maksamphan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, delivered opening remarks. Ambassadors or representatives from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, and other countries, as well as representatives from Thai government agencies such as the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation and the Ministry of Commerce, and other agencies responsible for project implementation, totaling over 120 people, attended the event.

Ambassador Zhang Jianwei stated that Lancang-Mekong Cooperation has made significant progress over the past decade, playing a crucial role in promoting the development, prosperity, and well-being of the countries in the river basin. China is willing to cooperate with Thailand to accelerate the construction of a China-Thailand community with a shared future and jointly build Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Version 2.0 with other countries in the Lancang-Mekong River Basin. Mr. Chetthaphan Makasampan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, thanked the Chinese government for its continued leadership and strong support of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation and expressed Thailand's commitment to cooperating with other countries in the river basin to further advance the achievements of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation and create a favorable environment for hosting the 5th Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Leaders' Meeting.

In addition, a forum was held on the topic of "The Golden Decade of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation".
