On August 29, Ambassador Han Zhiqiang met with Thailand's new Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin at the headquarters of the Pheu Thai Party.

Han Zhiqiang congratulated Srettha Thavisin on being elected as the Prime Minister of Thailand, and said that China and Thailand are good neighbors, good friends, good relatives and good partners. China stands ready to work together with the new Thai government to effectively align their respective development strategies, promote high-quality “Belt and Road” cooperation to yield new outcomes, deepen practical cooperation and exchanges in various fields, strengthen communication and coordination in regional and international affairs, and comprehensively advance the building of a China-Thailand community with a shared future.

Srettha Thavisin said that the new Thai government attaches great importance to the development of friendly relations between Thailand and China, and is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with the Chinese side, further deepen bilateral cooperation in tourism, economy, trade, investment and other fields, provide further facilitation measures for personnel exchanges between the two countries for greater benefits of the two peoples. Srettha Thavisin also expressed his readiness for a visit to China at the earliest time possible.
