Thai Prime Minister Prayut Met with Wang Yong

Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand met with Mr. Wang Yong, State Councilor of the People’s Republic of China, who is in Thailand to host the sixth meeting of the China-Thailand Joint Committee on Trade, Investment and Economy. Wang Yong first conveyed warm regards from Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang to Prime Minister Prayut.

Wang Yong said that the relations between the two countries have flourished and the bilateral cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful results, thanks to President Xi and Prime Minister Prayut’s efforts. China will work with Thailand to implement the important consensus between the leaders of the two countries, synergize the Belt and Road Initiative with Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) and other development strategies, and promote cooperation on major projects such as the China-Thailand railway. We welcome Thai enterprises’ active participation in China’s first International Import Expo, and are ready to push for greater progress of China-Thailand comprehensive strategic partnership.

Prayut expressed his gratitude and asked Wang Yong to convey his sincere greetings and best wishes to President Xi and Premier Li. He said that Thailand attaches great importance to the friendship with China, supports and stands ready to actively participate in the development of the Belt and Road, promote cooperation between ASEAN and China, and work together with China for economic prosperity of the two countries and the region. The Thai side is willing to enhance cooperation with China in investment, education, science and technology, infrastructure, e-commerce and other fields, welcome Chinese enterprises to take part in the EEC and expand the scope of pragmatic cooperation between the two countries.
