On December 23, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei visited the headquarter of the Thai Red Cross Society and handed over a donation from the Red Cross Society of China for flood relief in southern Thailand. Mr. Tej Bunnag, the Secretary-General of the Thai Red Cross Society received the donation.

Ambassador Zhang stated that China is highly concerned about the floods in southern Thailand, and Chinese leaders sent a message of condolence to Thailand. China and Thailand are good relatives, good friends and good partners, who have long stood together through thick and thin and supported each other in times of difficulty. Since the floods occurred, the Chinese community and Chinese enterprises in Thailand have actively provided disaster relief. It is hoped that the donation from the Red Cross Society of China will bring confidence and strength to the affected people in southern Thailand and help the disaster-stricken areas resume normal production and life at an early date.

Mr. Tej Bunnag expressed gratefulness for the valuable assistance from the Red Cross Society of China, noting that Thailand and China have always helped each other in addressing challenges, which vividly exemplifies the profound relationship between the two countries as close as "one family." The Thai Red Cross Society stands ready to continue strengthening communication and cooperation with the Red Cross Society of China to make greater contributions to improving the well-being of the people of both countries.
