On January 13, Minister Wu Zhiwu met with the dedicated task force led by Cheuk Hau-yeip, Deputy Secretary for Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government. Minister Wu briefed Deputy Secretary Cheuk on the current state of China-Thailand relations, as well as consular protection, assistance, and document-related work by the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in Thailand concerning Hong Kong affairs in recent years. He emphasized that the Chinese diplomatic mission in Thailand attaches great importance to matters related to Hong Kong and will continue to maintain close contact and coordination with relevant departments of the SAR Government to provide maximum convenience and assistance to Hong Kong compatriots and effectively safeguard the legal rights and interests of Hong Kong residents in Thailand.
Deputy Secretary Cheuk stated that the task force's visit to Thailand aimed to follow up on specific cases and had received positive responses from senior Thai officials, including the Minister of Justice, Tavee Sodsong, and law enforcement agencies. He expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by the Chinese diplomatic mission in Thailand for this trip. Hong Kong SAR Government departments will continue to strengthen communication and cooperation with the Chinese diplomatic mission in Thailand, ensuring the safety and legal rights of Hong Kong residents in Thailand. He expressed confidence that under the leadership of the central government, Hong Kong-Thailand friendly exchanges and cooperation will achieve even greater development.
