Distinguished guests,
Ladies and gentlemen,
Good evening!
On July 1, 1975, the governments of People’s Republic of China and the Kingdom of Thailand signed the Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations, ushering in a new chapter of friendly exchanges between our two nations. Tonight, we gather here to celebrate this grand and historic moment. First of all, on behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude and sincere wishes to all Chinese and Thai friends from various walks of life who have personally witnessed, participated in and contributed to the great process of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two nations, as well as those who have long been dedicated to the growth of China-Thailand relations.
China and Thailand are good neighbors connected by mountains and rivers, sincere friends with mutual benefit, close relatives bound by blood ties and trusted partners sharing a common future. The friendship between us has been passed down for thousands of years, and the concept of "China and Thailand are as close as one family" is deeply rooted in the hearts of the two peoples. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 50 years ago, China-Thailand relations have enjoyed a sound and stable development and yielded fruitful outcomes in practical cooperation. The bilateral relations have withstood the test of time and challenges, emerged even stronger and more resilient, achieved remarkable achievements, and offered us with valuable insights for the future.
First, the guidance of our top leaders has set the direction for the development of China-Thailand relations. China-Thailand relations have been consistently valued and prioritized by the leaders of both nations as well as members of the Royal Family of Thailand. President Xi Jinping attended the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting and visited Thailand in November 2022. The leaders of our two nations agreed to build a China-Thailand community with a shared future for enhanced stability, prosperity and sustainability, ushering our relations into a new era. The Chinese government and the Chinese people are looking forward to the state visit of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Her Majesty Queen Suthida to China, which is a milestone in the history of China-Thailand relations. The Chinese side will make meticulous preparations and ensure a complete success of the visit.
Second, the two nations always understand each other and stand together through difficulties and trials, deepening our enduring friendship. China and Thailand firmly support each other in choosing a development path that suits its own national conditions and in safeguarding its core national interests. No matter how the international situation changes, our two nations always respect each other, treat each other as equals, trust each other sincerely, and support each other. From the Asian financial crisis to the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, from the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake to the COVID-19 pandemic, the two nations have always been there for each other in times of adversity and our friendship have grown ever stronger.
Third, the China-Thailand relations have developed soundly in an all-dimensional, in-depth, and high-level manner. Mutual benefit and win-win cooperation serve as its distinctive feature, offering a strong drive force for further growth. China has been Thailand's largest trading partner for 12 consecutive years, and largest export market for agricultural products, and the main source of foreign investment and tourist arrivals. Our two nations are committed to pursuing open development strategies, advancing high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and expanding collaboration in new-quality productive forces. Thousands of Chinese enterprises have invested in Thailand, and put the concept of “in Thailand, for Thailand” in practice through ongoing fulfillment of social responsibilities. Their contributions are actively catalyzing Thailand’s industrial upgrading and enhancing public well-being of local people.
Fourth, the two nations share similar stances and maintain smooth coordination in international and regional affairs, and make significant contributions to safeguarding peace, prosperity and development in the region and beyond, endowing the bilateral relations with significance that transcends the bilateral dimension. China and Thailand are committed to promoting the Eastern wisdom of “Harmony in Diversity” and “Appreciating the beauty of others while cherishing one’s own”, and to properly managing differences through dialogue and consultation so as to safeguard peace and stability. Our two nations always represent and firmly safeguard the interests of developing countries, oppose trade protectionism, and promote true multilateralism. We work together to build a Lancang-Mekong community with a shared future for peace and prosperity, and support the Greater BRICS in enhancing its influence and strength.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Reflecting on the past and present, we owe profound gratitude to the visionary pilots who charted our course, pay tribute to the trailblazers who forged ahead undaunted by hardships, and praise the new navigators who carry forward the legacy and set sail towards new horizons. Standing at this new historical juncture, we are full of confidence in advancing China-Thailand friendship into a new era.
China is willing to be a trustworthy and reliable partner to Thailand, and to strengthen the alignment of development strategies with Thailand and promote the integrated development of industries so as to better foster the economic transformation and upgrading of both sides. China is willing to work with Thailand to strengthen multilateral coordination and cooperation, and jointly maintain regional peace, stability and development, making China-Thailand relations closer, more connotative and more resilient, and continuously reach new heights, so as to deliver tangible benefits to the people of our two nations.
Finally, I sincerely wish the tree of our friendship remain ever green, and the kinship of our peoples transcend time. Let us join hands and work together to create an even brighter future for China - Thailand relations!
Thank you!
