On August 16, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei attended and addressed the Sun Yat-sen Lecture organized by the Chinese Association in Thailand. Nearly 600 people participated in the event, including representatives from Thai-Chinese communities, overseas Chinese from both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and youth representatives.

Ambassador Zhang stated that Mr. Sun Yat-sen consistently upheld national unity and ethnic solidarity, and resolutely opposed separatism. His spirit serves as a common bond connecting Chinese people at home and abroad. This lecture is a vivid practice of commemorating the pioneer and strengthening national identity. It is hoped that the overseas Chinese community in Thailand will carry on Mr. Sun Yat-sen's legacy, safeguard the overall interests of the Chinese nation, build consensus on unity, serve as a bridge of friendship between China and Thailand, and act as envoy for cross-strait exchanges, contributing to the great cause of national rejuvenation.

Professor Xin Qiang of Fudan University systematically explained the historical context and future development of cross-strait relations, focusing on the bridging role of overseas Chinese in national rejuvenation. The overseas Chinese audience expressed their commitment to opposing separatism and promoting reunification.

It is the first time that the Chinese Ambassador to Thailand was invited to deliver a speech at the Sun Yat-sen Lecture Series since its inception in 1993.
